Pifer Receives EMT License

02/13/2013 – Lieutenant Michael Pifer recently completed the 160 hour Emergency Medical Technician program and received his licensure. The course consists of extensive training in several different subjects related to emergency medicine.

Over 90% of the fire department’s members are EMTs. The department responds to nearly 2,000 requests annually for medical assistance, including automobile accidents, strokes and heart attacks. With six stations throughout the city, the fire department is able to provide quick response when the ambulance services are over  burdened.

Lieutenant Pifer is an 18 year veteran of the department. He supervises the A-shift at fire station 6 and also manages the department’s fleet maintenance.
