Fire Department Receives $5,000 Safety Education Grant

PARKERSBURG – Thirty-one nonprofit organizations in the Mid-Ohio Valley received grant funding from the Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund in support of its vision of “healthy people in healthy communities.” At its spring meeting, the SSJCF’s Board of Directors approved a total of $427,727 in funding for the following nonprofit organizations:

* Parkersburg Fire Department, Parkersburg, $5,000 in support of fire education and prevention material

Fire Chief Eric Taylor said the grant will go a long way in expanding the department’s safety education program within the elementary schools. The funds will be used to purchase literature for a new education concept the department is developing for Fire Prevention Week in the Fall.
