04/30/2013 – Today, around 2:00 P.M., the Parkersburg Fire Department responded to a fire at Mister Bee Potato Chips, 511 32nd St. The first arriving engine reported smoke coming from the facility and declared a working fire.
Upon entry, firefighters discovered a fire in the industrial fryer. Multiple engine companies responded and the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes. The fire was contained to the equipment of origin and the building didn’t suffer any fire damage.
“I’ve spoken to company representatives and it will be a day or so before they are able to determine the extent of damage, but the fire was limited to the piece of equipment,” said Fire Chief Eric Taylor. “Our crews remained for about 90 minutes checking for fire extension and fire investigators will be working this afternoon trying to determine a cause.”
The facility was evacuated and no injuries were reported.
