10/23/2013 – The City of Parkersburg Fire Civil Service Commission will conduct an entrance test for Probationary Firefighter on January 22, 2014. The test results will remain good for 3 years.

“These are highly competitive positions. Over the next three years, we may have only four or five firefighters retire, but we anticipate there will be a few hundred applicants test for those few positions,” said Fire Chief Eric Taylor.

No previous experience or training is required. Candidates must be between the ages of 18 to 35 at the time of application. The hiring process includes a written exam, physical agility test, medical physicals and background checks.

Interested applicants must apply at the Personnel Department, on the 5th floor of the municipal building, located at 1 Government Square. Applications will be accepted beginning October 28, 2013 thru December 30, 2013. There is a $15 test fee due with returned applications.

More information about the hiring process and a video overview of the physical agility test are available on the employment section of the department’s website: www.ParkersburgFire.com

Hi,
I am in Charleston, WV and would like to test for your department. Can I mail the application in along with the $15.00 fee? If so, who does the check need to be made out to and what would the address be?

Thanks,

M. Lorrison
